Who We Are

Could you be the voice for a child?

More than 1,500 abused and neglected children in North Carolina go to court without an advocate by their side. Could you be the special advocate for one of these children? Could you speak up for the child's best interests? Could you become the "eyes and ears" of the court? Kids in McDowell County need your help. Visit to learn more.

What We Do

We are the voice of the children in McDowell County court who have suffered abuse or neglect and are under the court's supervision. We are a dedicated and diverse group of volunteers who are appointed by the court to serve as special advocates for these children until they are placed in a safe, permanent home. We are trained to investigate and report our findings to the court, to work with other community agencies and service providers, and to speak for the children we are appointed to serve.
