Train to respond to local and national disasters as a Red Cross Disaster Responder. Volunteers train to work in or manage a shelter, drive Emergency Response Vehicles, distribute food and clean up kits, provide health services, and much more. Volunteers choose which position(s) to train for. Training is provided online and in the classroom by Red Cross so that volunteers are ready when the time comes to respond locally or deploy nationally. Last year, volunteers opened shelters and provided support in response to the Lake Lure wildfires and Hurricane Matthew. Join the Red Cross in its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. Start your volunteer application today at redcross.org/volunteer and turn compassion into action!
